Michael Fassbender Talks Alien: Covenant; Aliens Will Emerge from People
We don’t yet know all that much about Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant so it’s hard to tell how much it will directly connect to the Alien franchise, but Scott recently promised it will be loaded with deadly monsters, and we couldn’t be happier about that. Today we’ve learned a tiny bit more, and it’s music to our ears.
The latest update comes courtesy of star Michael Fassbender, who spoke with Inquirer.
“There are going to be great sets and aliens coming out of people,” Fassbender promised about the film, now shooting in Sydney. “The sets are fantastic. Again, the most impressive sets I’ve seen since Prometheus, which was the original setting. It’s a fantastic mixture of high-end technology and primitive elements. The way that I can explain it is the same way that Ridley did Blade Runner.”
“It’s amazing to watch Ridley work,” he went on to say. “I try to soak up as much knowledge as I can from him because having worked on this kind of films a few times and having seen how many moving parts there are, how many people work on the se, and how many departments need attention and the language, he’s an absolute master.”
Alien: Covenant hits screens on August 4, 2017.
The cast also includes Billy Crudup, Katherine Waterston, Benjamin Rigby, Demian Bichir, Danny McBride, Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo, and Callie Hernandez.
Specific plot details for the new film are being closely guarded; but it is believed to follow the crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet, who discover what they believe is an uncharted paradise but is, in fact, a dark, dangerous world, the only inhabitant of which is David (Fassbender), the “synthetic” and survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
