War of Gods Gets a New Title and Expands Its CastJust a few days ago we learned that Stephen Dorff has joined the cast of Tarsem Singh’s War of Gods, and now comes word that the project has been renamed and added another actor to its already fairly impressive roster: two-time Oscar nominee John Hurt.

Box Office Mojo reports that going forward War of Gods will be known simply as Immortals. Hurt joins the previously announced Dorff along with Luke Evans (the underutilized Apollo in Clash of the Titans) as Zeus, Mickey Rourke as King Hyperion, Henry Cavill (Blood River) as Theseus, and Slumdog Millionaire‘s Freida Pinto as Phaedra. Kellan Lutz (The Twilight Saga) and Alan Van Sprang (Survival of the Dead) are rumored to be portraying Poseidon and Draco, respectively.

Synopsis:
A purported bastard who retains an allegiance to his mother despite the fact that he longs to join the quest of a king who is battling demons in ancient Greece later embarks on a grail of discovery that has him finding he is the king’s son and also fated to become his country’s greatest hero as he leads the successful war against long-imprisoned Titans who are hoping to use the demons to restore their power.

Distributed by Universal, War of Gods will be produced by 300 partners Gianni Nunnari of Hollywood Gang Prods., Mark Canton of Atmosphere Entertainment MM, and Ryan Kavanaugh, CEO of Relativity Media. Christian Gudegast rewrote from an original draft by Charley and Vlas Parlapanides.

Look for the film in theatres on November 11th, 2011.

Oh, and did we mention it’ll be in 3D? As if there was any doubt!
