Cannes 2016: Kristen Stewart Stars in Ghost Story Personal Shopper
The ghost film Personal Shopper, starring Kristen Stewart, seems to have alienated audiences at Cannes. On one hand, The Guardian awarded it a perfect score of five out of five; and on the other, audience members were said to have loudly booed after a screening.
So who knows what we’re in for? Guess we’ll just have to wait until we see the film for ourselves to pass judgement. IFC Films holds the distribution rights for the flick and intends to get it out to a wider audience later this year. Stay tuned for an exact date. In the meantime, check out a clip and the trailer below.
Stewart plays a celebrity’s assistant, who finds herself being haunted by the ghost of her dead twin brother at the Paris mansion which is temporarily her home.
Director Olivier Assayas’ films have previously played at Cannes to great success, so the fact that Personal Shopper polarized its audience seems to indicate that he’s taken a different approach from his usual fare, although we wish it all the best when it eventually gets a full release.
