Alien: Covenant – Michael Fassbender Describes the Film’s “Old School” Look
Ridley Scott is currently filming Prometheus sequel Alien: Covenant over in Sydney, Australia, and though it’ll be a while before we see any images or things of that nature, you better believe we’ll be reporting on every tasty little tidbit that comes across our desk. This one comes courtesy of star Michael Fassbender.
Speaking with Australian newspaper Herald Sun, as brought to our attention by the fine folks over at AVP Galaxy, Fassbender teased the overall aesthetic of the film, comparing its visual style to the original Star Wars movies.
“Fassbender is in Sydney, where he’s filming Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant, the sci-fi sequel to Prometheus,” wrote the paper. “He’s a big wrap for Scott’s huge physical sets, which he describes as mixing cutting-edge NASA-like technology with ‘an old-school element where things look battered, like the original Star Wars.'”
The actor also teased that android David will be even creepier than before. And we just love creepy Fassbender.
Alien: Covenant hits screens on August 4, 2017.
The cast also includes Billy Crudup, Katherine Waterston, Benjamin Rigby, Demian Bichir, Danny McBride, Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo, and Callie Hernandez.
Specific plot details for the new film are being closely guarded; but it is believed to follow the crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet, who discover what they believe is an uncharted paradise but is, in fact, a dark, dangerous world, the only inhabitant of which is David (Fassbender), the “synthetic” and survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
