Back in 1960 four camping teenagers were brutally stabbed to death on the shores of Finland’s Lake Bodom, and to this day the case remains unsolved. The horrific cold case is the namesake of death metal band Children of Bodom, and now the lakeside massacre is getting its very own horror movie.

As reported by Screen Daily, Fabien Westerhoff’s newly launched Film Constellation has boarded sales on the Scandinavian horror film Lake Bodom, which was pitched in Cannes in the “Frontières Goes to Cannes” genre strand. Taneli Mustonen directed the Finnish-language film, formerly titled Bodom.

Inspired by the real events, Lake Bodom tells the story of four teens who travel to the site of a legendary unsolved murder to reconstruct the events that really took place there more than 50 years ago.

Co-written by Mustonen and Aleksi Hyvärinen, the film will premiere on the festival circuit this fall.
