The Rock Talks Big Trouble in Little China
You know what makes us happy? John Carpenter is enjoying a bit of a renaissance lately, and that pleases us more than words could ever fully describe. Hot off the heels of the stellar Halloween news, comes an update on another project with Carpenter’s name on it… a remake of Big Trouble in Little China with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson on board as Jack Burton.
Fandango (no relation to the grappler) caught up with Johnson recently, who gave this quick update. “That’s happening, man! That’s happening, that’s happening. And again, that’s one of those things where you gotta take really good care of it,” he explained.
We agree. When asked about Johnson being cast in the iconic role, Carpenter said “It would be hard, if not impossible, to replace Kurt Russell as Jack Burton. On the other hand, Johnson has a comic touch in his performances, so perhaps.”

Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz are penning the script with Johnson, and his partners Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia are producing through their 7 Bucks Entertainment banner.
The original Big Trouble in Little China starred Kurt Russell as Jack Burton, a trucker who gets dragged into a centuries-old mystical battle in Chinatown between warring clans.
More as it comes.
