Luke Scott, the son of legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott, makes his feature directorial debut later this year with Morgan, a sci-fi thriller that looks to pay tribute to his father’s particular brand of cinema. Ahead of the September 2nd release date comes the first trailer, which is perfectly mysterious and moody. Dig it!

What Morgan really alludes to is human beings becoming, in a sense, the creator,” Luke Scott told EW. “Not in a traditional religious sense, but an idea that we have the capabilities to become our own creator. And what I suspect could happen — we’ve seen it in all these movies, whether it’s Frankenstein or Metropolis — it’s the creation of a being that is greater than the creator.”

Based on a script by Seth W. Owen, the film stars Kate Mara, Anya Taylor-Joy, Rose Leslie, Boyd Holbrook, Toby Jones, and Paul Giamatti.

Ridley Scott produced alongside Michael Schaefer and Mark Huffam.

Synopsis:
A corporate troubleshooter (Mara) is sent to a remote location to evaluate an artificially created, rapidly developing lifeform.
