E3 2016: Berserk/Dynasty Warriors Crossover Game Announced
The crowd-combat tactical battle series Dynasty Warriors does huge business in Japan, where over 18 million copies have been sold. The success of the series has resulted in a number of official spin-offs, and publisher Koei Tecmo has been giving licenses to other franchises so that they can make games in that particular series using the Dynasty Warriors formula.
So far, the crossover franchises have included The Legend of Zelda, One Piece, Dragon Quest, and, as we’ve learn at E3, Berserk. That’s right… Kentaro Miura’s ultra-violent dark fantasy manga is getting the Warriors treatment, as confirmed in the pretty creepy teaser below.
There haven’t been many Berserk games since the mage launched back in 1989, but the series was a huge influence on both Dark Souls and Dragon’s Dogma.
So far, the only other M-rated Dynasty Warriors games have been the Fist of the North Star spinoffs and the abysmal Warriors: Legends of Troy, but with the Berserk manga being as brutally violent as it is, it’s safe to say that this will probably be the most violent game in the series yet when it arrives later this year for PS4, Vita, and PC.
