Hot Horror Script Mary Being Pitched as The Shining Meets The Conjuring
Writer Anthony Jaswinski is one of the hottest up-and-coming talents in the horror genre, with films like Vanishing on 7th Street, Kristy, and the upcoming Satanic and The Shallows already under his belt. I suppose it should come as no surprise that Jaswinski’s latest script, Mary, is already generating a good deal of buzz.
Per The Tracking Board, Mary is being pitched as “The Shining meets The Conjuring on a boat,” and it’s attracting big name directors and actors. The script, which hit the market this week, is already in to several territories with many more to come.
The site notes that Scott Stuber’s Bluegrass Films has teamed with Blumhouse to take it for Universal. Lorenzo Di Bonaventura is taking it in to Paramount and Netflix, while John Davis and his Davis Entertainment is taking it to 20th Century Fox and Sony. Michael De Luca is taking it for both Studio 8 and Lionsgate, but he is also teaming with Brett Ratner’s RatPac for New Line. Matt Tolmach has TriStar squared away, while Neal Moritz and his Original Films have taken EuropaCorp and Studio Canal.
Story details, for now, are being kept under wraps.
