Live-Action Tokyo Ghoul Movie in Development
Sui Ishida’s Tokyo Ghoul manga has now sold over 12 million copies worldwide, so I guess a live-action film was inevitable. And thanks to Anime News Network, we can now confirm that it’s in development.
Masataka Kubota will star as Ken Kaneki, the teenage protagonist of the series who finds himself transformed into a bloodthirsty creature of the night after a botched organ transplant operation literally takes away his humanity, and Fumika Shimizu will star as Touka Kirishima, a beautiful young woman who also happens to have a habit of eating people alive.
Kentaro Hagiwara will direct, and Tokyo Ghoul is aiming for a summer 2017 release in Japan. If you haven’t already, be sure to become acquainted with the series by checking out the original manga and anime before it arrives.
