The Babysitter and the Man Upstairs Urban Legend Gets an Ominous New Adaptation
The urban legend of “the babysitter and the man upstairs,” in which a mysterious stranger seems to watch a young woman as she babysits, is some pretty scary shit, especially when you consider that it was inspired by the true story of the unsolved killing of Janett Christman.
The upcoming film Ominous (Facebook page here) presents its own take on the myth. Coming from director Lorenzo Adams, it’s set in 1968 and looks like it could be the creepiest version of the tale yet.
Filming begins later this month.
Synopsis:
Ominous is a story that takes place in 1968, when a young babysitter’s evening is interrupted by strange and unsettling occurrences. This is a retelling and different take on the classic urban legend of “the babysitter and the man upstairs.” The story is also inspired by true events – loosely based on the tragic slaying of 13-year-old Janett Christman while she babysat in 1950. To this day the killer was never found.
