Exclusive Reveal: Alex Pardee’s Doppelgangers Art Print Features All Your Favorite Movie Monsters

default-featured-image

One of our favorite artists in the horror game is Alex Pardee, whose original creatures – recently seen in Adam Green’s Digging Up the Marrow – continually blow our mind. In addition to all the original stuff, Pardee also likes to paint his favorite movie monsters in his own unique style, and he lovingly refers to them as his “Doppelgangers.”

The paintings, originally available as prints on Pardee’s website, were collected together in an art book last year, and just in time for this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, all 185 of the iconic monsters he has painted will join forces for one epic art print that we’re delighted to exclusively reveal here on Dread today.

Over the course of 6 years, I would occasionally paint a quick watercolor portrait of one of my favorite movie monsters as a little therapy break,” Pardee explained to us. “This side project quickly became an obsession in revisiting every movie I loved growing up and making myself smile along the way. Last year, all 185 paintings were collected individually and published in my latest book, called ‘Doppelgängers.’ However, now, they are finally hanging out at the same party. All 185 of my favorite monsters on one giant horrific print.”

Signed by Pardee, and inspired by a lifelong love affair with all things scary, the “DOPPELGÄNGERS” limited timed-release print measures 36″ x 24″ and was printed with archival inks on bright cold press cotton rag paper. Beginning on July 20 at 6am PT, the print will be available on AlexPardee.com for just 13 days, going away forever on August 1 at 11:59pm PT.

The prints will also be available at SDCC later this month, and anyone who purchases one at Pardee’s booth (#5502) will receive an exclusive pair of signed and numbered “Event Tickets” as well as a cheat-sheet/legend so that you can easily identify each monster and the film they inhabit. The SDCC price, same as the online price, is $80.
