In case you haven’t noticed, fairy tales are all the rage. We’ve got multiple spins on Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, and Beauty and the Beast all coming to big and small screens. Just the other day we told you about one new version of Snow White on its way, and now today comes news of yet another … in 3D of course!

Relativity Media has tapped Brett Ratner to help produce its live-action adaptation of The Brothers Grimm: Snow White with a script from Melisa Wallack, and during last weekend’s MTV Movie Awards the network chatted with Ratner briefly about the script and whether or not it will be shot in 3D or converted. The full video from MTV follows, but here are a few excerpts:

I’m producing, I’m not directing, but I’m excited about it. It’s an edgier kind of reinvention; the script is excellent, and I’m looking forward to it…We’re gonna shoot it for 3D; it’s better like that. The conversion [process] is still kind of iffy…Walt Disney made the best movie ever made so it’s not easy, but it’s a fantastic script. We go back to the original folklore…it’s edgier, it’s cooler.

Keep it here for more on all these “Grimm” tales as it comes.
