Back in April, Rod Blackhurst’s Here Alone (review) premiered at Tribeca as part of the Midnight section, and to say the film was well received would be an understatement. It won the Audience Award at the festival, and now we’ve learned that Vertical Entertainment has secured worldwide distribution rights.

Ahead of the film’s first quarter 2017 theatrical release, check out the trailer below. Upcoming festival screenings include the Traverse City Film Festival this weekend on July 30th and then FrightFest in the UK in August.

Written by David Ebeltoft, Here Alone stars Lucy Walters, Gina Piersanti, Adam David Thompson, and Shane West.

“Here Alone is a quietly haunting thriller that resonates with moviegoers everywhere, as shown by the Audience Award at Tribeca,”
said Vertical Co-President Rich Goldberg. “We are very proud to work with such talented filmmakers on a global release.”

Said director/producer Rod Blackhurst, “Making an independent feature film is hard; finding the perfect distributor was not. Vertical Entertainment immediately recognized our commitment and enthusiasm for taking the film that we shot in our backyard to audiences worldwide and was eager to work with us to position the film in a way that both respects our indie ethos and will ensure that fans of post-apocalyptic genre films everywhere can watch our movie.”

Synopsis:
A virus has ravaged human civilization, leaving two groups of survivors: those who have managed to avoid infection and those driven to madness, violence, and an insatiable bloodlust. Living deep in the woods, Ann, Chris, and Olivia are forced to fend off the infected while foraging for supplies. But when a supply expedition goes terribly awry, one among their number must make a terrible choice.
