The Asylum Finds Paranormal Activity in the Gacy House
The Asylum has found success of late with its “mega” movies (both Mega Python vs. Gatoroid and Mega Shark vs. Crocosaurus are in the works), but the powers-that-be also seem to believe their Paranormal Entity mockbuster was a success as well, or they just need something to ride the coattails of Paranormal Activity 2 because this Halloween season they’re releasing 8213: Gacy House featuring “found footage” from John Wayne Gacy’s posthumous residence.
John Wayne Gacy murdered 33 young men and boys between 1972 and 1978 in suburban Chicago. 26 bodies were found in a crawl space beneath his house, and 3 others were buried in the backyard. Although the house was completely demolished during the exhumation of the bodies, on May 15, 2004, a group of paranormal investigators wired the home that was built in its place with paranormal detection and surveillance equipment. The outcome of the investigation was grisly, terrifying and disturbing.
So Paranormal Activity with ghost hunters getting fatally haunted by the ghost of Pogo the Clown it is. Given John Wayne Gacy’s real-life proclivities, I find myself curious as to whether The Asylum will actually dare include ghost-on-guy bondage rape. I mean, that is what John Wayne Gacy was all about.
As with the dismal, yet slightly laughable Paranormal Entity (review here) last year, The Asylum is going to extra lengths to convince you this is real footage by listing the production credits on its website as the following:
Produced by: N/A
Directed by: N/A
Written by: N/A
Cinematography by: N/A
Starring: N/A
They even list the film’s genre as “reality”. Perhaps they could have better preserved this ruse by not gleefully announcing on Twitter when they wrapped production on the film back in May.
8213: Gacy House will begin spooking DVD shelves September 28th.
