Dread Central & Home Media Magazine Announce Second Annual Reaper Awards!
We had such a good time at last year’s first-ever Reaper Awards that Dread Central and Home Media Magazine have decided to do it again this October! Read on for the full details.
From the Press Release:
Home entertainment industry leader Home Media Magazine and the horror insiders at DreadCentral.com have again partnered to present the second annual Reaper Awards — honoring horror on home video.
October 12, 2010, at the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, “The Grimmys” will be awarded to the best horror DVDs and Blu-ray discs of the past year.
“We’re dying to see who wins, following a successful event in 2009,” says Stephanie Prange, the event’s executive producer and editor-in-chief of Home Media Magazine. “There’s nothing scarier than watching a horror movie at home on disc with the lights out, and we aim to honor that tradition.”
“Grimmy” winners will be celebrated in the Roosevelt’s famed Blossom Room with a cocktail party and dinner, followed by an awards show featuring celebrity presenters.
A panel of judges will choose nominees in eight categories, with winners determined by an online vote held August 30 to October 1 at ReaperAwards.com. In addition, consumers can vote in three categories to pick the titles most anticipated for the fourth quarter.
Judges include Home Media Magazine publisher Thomas K. Arnold and reviews editor John Latchem; Steve “Uncle Creepy” Barton from DreadCentral.com; Brad “Mr. Disgusting” Miska of Bloody-Disgusting.com; ShockTillYouDrop.com’s Ryan Turek aka “Ryan Rotten”; Staci Wilson from Horror.com, Lawrence Raffel of Fearnet.com; and a special celebrity judge, filmmaker/legend Roger Corman, whose cult-classic films are being re-released on DVD and Blu-ray as part of the “Roger Corman’s Cult Classics” line from Shout! Factory and Vivendi.
