New Promos Recap Z Nation Season 2 and Get You Ready for Van Helsing Season 1
Syfy is beginning to look like a horror fan’s best friend this fall season, what with “Z Nation” returning and three new series (“Van Helsing,” “Aftermath,” and “Channel Zero: Candle Cove”) kicking off soon. Up now we have a pair of videos to help prep you for “Z Nation” (a recap of Season 2) and “Van Helsing” (what to expect in Season 1).
“Z Nation” takes place three years after a zombie virus gutted the country. A team of everyday heroes is tasked with transporting the only known survivor of the plague across the country to the last functioning viral lab in post-apocalyptic America, in hopes of using his blood to create a cure for the virus. Season 3 kicks off on September 16th with a two-hour premiere.
“Z Nation” stars Kellita Smith (“The Bernie Mac Show”), DJ Qualls (“Supernatural,” The Man in the High Castle), Keith Allan (Rise of the Zombies), Anastasia Baranova (The Darkness II), Russell Hodgkinson (Big Fish), and Nat Zang. Karl Schaefer (“Eerie Indiana,” “Eureka,” “The Dead Zone”) serves as executive producer and showrunner. The series is produced by The Asylum and sold internationally by Dynamic Television.

“Van Helsing” is a total re-imagination of a timeless brand, set in a world dominated and controlled by vampires. Vanessa Helsing is the last hope for survival, as she unknowingly awakens to discover she has a unique blood composition that makes her not only immune to vampires, but with the ability to turn a vampire human. With this secret weapon, Vanessa becomes a prime target for the vampires, while trying to save humanity. Season 1 premieres on September 23rd.
“True Blood’s” Kelly Overton stars as the female “Van Helsing”; joining her in the cast are Jonathan Scarfe (“Hell on Wheels”), Christopher Heyerdahl (“True Blood,” “Hell on Wheels”), Paul Johansson (“Mad Men”), David Cubitt (“Ray Donovan”), and Tim Guinee (“Homeland”). The showrunner is Neil LaBute (In the Company of Men, The Wicker Man (2006)), who also serves as one of the show’s exec producers/writers. Set to direct various episodes are Michael Nankin (“Hell on Wheels:), Jason Priestley (“Haven”), David Frazee (“Orphan Black”), Simon Barry (“Continuum”), and Amanda Tapping (“The Magicians”).
