The Weinsteins Looking to Bring Their Horrors Back – New Halloween Sequel, Hellraiser Remake and More!
Say what you will about The Weinstein Company, the bottom line is that they have their hands firmly gripped upon some of horror’s top franchises, and they’ve always done their best to be kind to the genre. True, some efforts have been better than others, but you have to take the bad with the good, man! That being said, when news broke of their financial woes, we were all pretty saddened that our favorite franchises could be drowning in hot water, but it seems as if Bob and Harvey just may be on the rebound!
In a recent article over at The Hollywood Reporter, the brothers reveal that plans are still under way for remakes of Hellraiser and Children of the Corn along with sequels to Scary Movie and Halloween.
They’re not out of the woods just yet, though, as a lot is riding on the box office tallies for Piranha 3D, which opens on August 20th in more than 2,000 domestic theaters with a marketing campaign of about $30 million. Apparently TWC has been able to book the number of 3D screens it needs.
Bring it on, guys! We’re rooting for ya!
