Shriekfest 2016 Announces First Wave of Films!

The Shriekfest Film Festival, one of the premier international horror/sci-fi film and screenplay competitions, has announced the first portion of its 2016 feature film lineup; and we have the skinny on what to expect right here!

Founded in July 2001 by Denise Gossett, Shriekfest is now in its “Sweet 16th” year and shows no signs of slowing down at all! The Shriekfest Film Festival runs October 6-9, 2016. An opening night party will take place at Club Sinister in Hollywood; the rest of the festival will be at the iconic Raleigh Studios on Melrose Blvd.

Capture Kill Release (Los Angeles Premiere)
Directed by Nick McAnulty and Brian Allan Stewart, written by Nick McAnulty.
A couple plots to murder a random stranger just for the thrill of it, but things turn ugly when one of them decides not to go through with it. Starring Christina Schimmel (Hannibal), Rich Piatkowski (Dead Rush), and Farhang Ghajar.

Occupants (Los Angeles Premiere)
Directed by Russ Emanuel, written by Julia Camara.
A documentarian named Annie has roped her husband into a project that involved setting up cameras throughout their house. Complications arise when the cameras start showing that same couple in an alternate universe. Starring Robert Picardo (Star Trek Voyager, Gremlins 2, Total Recall), Briana White, and Michael Pugliese.

Gehenna – Where Death Lives (Los Angeles Premiere)
Directed by Hiroshi Katagiri.
A group visits Saipan to search for locations for their company’s newest resort. Just when they think they found the perfect spot, they discover a hidden bunker with secrets of its own. Starring Doug Jones (Hocus Pocus, Hellboy, Absentia, Pan’s Labyrinth, The Strain, Ouija: Origin of Evil) and Lance Henriksen (The Terminator, Aliens, Near Dark, Alien vs. Predator).

The festival will also showcase 42 outstanding and diverse international short films, covering just about every aspect of horror, sci-fi, and fantasy.
