First Casting News for The Twilight Saga: Breaking DawnLots of new characters will be coming into play during the upcoming two-part The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, and we now know who at least one of them will be: Egyptian vampire Benjamin, who will be portrayed by Rami Malek.

Malek (“The Pacific”, “24”, Night at the Museum) spoke with ET correspondent Kate Gosselin (yes, that Kate Gosselin) on Emmy night about being cast in the film, saying, “I think it’s going to be great. It’s going to be super exciting and I’m thrilled.

Per Twilight Source, here’s a bit of info on Benjamin:

“He can influence the elements–earth, wind, water, and fire. True physical manipulation, no illusion of the mind.” Benjamin is “an oddly cheerful vampire who [looks] barely older than a boy and [seems] both utterly confident and utterly careless at the same time.” Like the rest of his coven, he has “midnight hair and [an] olive-toned pallor.”

Benjamin arrives in Forks to witness against the Volturi, along with his Egyptian coven–Tia, Amun and Kebi. Bella notes that the rest of the member of his coven seem to revolve around Benjamin, and that is because “his gift is so singular that Amun is terrified of losing him.” In fact, Amun created Benjamin knowing he would be special. He tries to use Benjamin as his weapon, but Benjamin is very independent. Edward is particularly fond of him because “he has a very clear sense of right and wrong” and likes his attitude.

As reminder, Part 1 (which will be filmed simultaneously with Part 2 in both Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Vancouver, British Columbia, over the next year starting this fall) is slated to be released in theatres on November 18, 2011. Part 2 will follow a year later on November 16, 2012.

Academy Award winner Bill Condon will direct both films starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner along with Billy Burke as Charlie Swan as well as returning members of the Cullen Family including Peter Facinelli as Carlisle, Elizabeth Reaser as Esme, Jackson Rathbone as Jasper, Nikki Reed as Rosalie, Ashley Greene as Alice, and Kellan Lutz as Emmett.
