Blumhouse’s Halloween Sequel Taking its Time to Get it Right
All has been quiet on the Halloween front since the initial announcement that Blumhouse would be behind the next film in the franchise with John Carpenter executive producing. Until now.
Our buddies over at Cinema Blend recently caught up with Jason Blum who offered the following update on the next Halloween.
“We haven’t landed on an approach,” said Blum. “We haven’t landed on a filmmaker, and we haven’t landed on an approach. We thought we had a filmmaker and an approach, and we don’t. We’re talking to a handful of people about it — all of them have different ideas. I don’t believe in coming up with an idea and telling a filmmaker what to do. So we have three to five different people we’re talking with, and all of them have a different idea about what it should be. And we haven’t landed on a group, and as a result we haven’t landed on an idea.”
Given the several storylines that lie within the franchise, I can understand them being careful as to which way to go. Let’s just hope this doesn’t turn into a Friday the 13th type scenario with no one being able to come up with a viable story line – when all it has to be is simply, “Kids show up in the woods. Jason dispatches them. Roll credits.”
