The Room Stars Tommy Wiseau and Greg Sestero Reunite for F(r)iends
This is not a drill: thirteen years after he left the entire world in shock and awe with his bizarre cult classic The Room, Tommy Wiseau is finally back in the movie-making business with F(r)iends, and judging from the trailer, it looks like we’ve got another bizarre masterpiece on our hands.
The Hollywood Reporter got the exclusive scoop on F(r)iends, which is directed by Gary Fong and was quietly filmed in LA and Canada. Greg Sestero, who played Mark in The Room, stars as a guy whose family were murdered my ninjas. This leads him to be taken in by a mortician played by Wiseau, who considers himself to be an artist with dead bodies as his canvases. And things do get bloody.
Aside from writing and directing the sitcom “The Neighbors,” Wiseau’s career since 2003 has consisted mostly of attending screenings of The Room, making very occasional cameo appearances, and taking legal action against anyone who he feel infringes upon his copyright, so I’m glad to say the least that he’s finally leading another film. It’s also great to see that he has no hard feelings towards Sestero after his tell all book The Disaster Artist, which chronicled the making of The Room. It’s currently being made into a film titled The Masterpiece directed by and starring James Franco, which will feature brief appearances from both Wiseau and Sestero, so we’ll be seeing more of the duo onscreen in the near-future.
