The world wide web can be a wondrous thing. Especially when little nuggets of horror history are officially exhumed. Case in point: Nicholas Burman-Vince who played The Chatterer Cenobite in the original Hellraiser.

Burman-Vince took to his Facebook page to share the following:

Here’s a piece of history. Call sheet and photo of the makeup test for the Cenobites, 30 years ago today,” writers Burman-Vince. “You’ll see I was referred to as Poor Bastard on the call sheet – a term coined by Bob Keen, due to not being able to see, hear or speak in makeup. (I probably thought I was looking in the same direction as the others.)

“Notable changes to the make ups were: Doug’s pins were literally pins, but didn’t ‘read’ on camera; so were replaced by ‘nails’ and he gained black contact lenses to cover his blue eyes. Chatterer’s teeth are pointed here, but Clive thought I didn’t look human, so the teeth you see in the film are replicas of mine taken from the molds for the dentures I wore.”

“Huge kudos to the makeup artists behind these wonderful images. Thanks to Stuart Conran for the call sheet and PhilandSarah Stokes Clive’s official archivists for the photo.”
