DC’s The Devil’s Muse: Artist Spotlight – Shawn Coss
Salutations, Dread Central art fans! Glad to have you back for The Devil’s Muse. It’s been our pleasure thus far to bring you some of the best horror art on the wide web.
This week we want to introduce you to a little something you may or may not have heard of yet: Inktober.
Inktober was created in 2009 by Jake Parker as a challenge to improve his inking skills and to develop positive habits when it comes to drawing. Since then it has become a worldwide phenomenon that takes place every October. Artists post ink drawings every day on social medias and tag them with #inktober for the rest of the world to find it.
We’d like to share with you one artist in particular who has been participating in Inktober this year. His name is Shawn Coss, and he’s taken this opportunity to show his interpretation of different mental illnesses. They’re startlingly accurate in many cases. If you’re at a computer, you can hold your cursor over the images for a clearer look at the illness titles.
Shawn’s Inktober drawings are what caught our attention, but his other work is equally compelling. Take a look below, and then click over to his Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, DeviantArt, and/or website for even more.
Do Shawn’s mental illness illustrations ring true for you? What’s your favorite out of all his pieces? Let us know in the comments!
If you enjoyed this week’s The Devil’s Muse, be sure to share it with your friends, and check back next Thursday for the next edition!
