Our friends over at Dark Horizons are reporting that as a means to celebrate the original Suspiria‘s 40th anniversary next year, Videa and QMI are teaming up for a special event running January 30th through February 1st in Italy – a theatrical run of a 4K remaster of the Dario Argento classic.

German lab TLEFilms did a painstaking digital restoration of the damaged 35mm celluloid original which was shot on EastmanColor film and processed using a Technicolor Dye Transfer. The original screen titles have been also been restored, as they appeared in Argento’s original cut.

Argento says: “I can’t wait to see it at the movies again with all the young people who will see it for the first time.” The freshly restored Suspiria is also expected to premiere internationally at the upcoming Berlin Film Festival and hopefully make its way to other countries soon after.
