Pacific Rim Sequel Begins Production; Title Confirmed?

The title Pacific Rim: Maelstrom has been floating around for a few weeks but has never been confirmed as the actual title of the Pacific Rim sequel. That is, until now… well… sort of.

Star John Boyega took to his Instagram page to post a picture of his shooting script that indeed reads Pacific Rim: Maelstrom. Of course anything can change between now and the film’s release so stay tuned.

First day on Pacific Rim today. Here’s to a great adventure ahead ✌🏿

Boyega stars alongside Scott Eastwood, Jing Tian, Cailee Spaeny, Ivanna Sakhno, and Adria Arjona. Directed by Steven S. DeKnight, the sequel is based on the world created by Guillermo del Toro and Travis Beacham.

Thomas Tull, Mary Parent, Jon Jashni, and del Toro will produce the action adventure film along with Boyega and Femi Oguns under their Upper Room Productions banner. Cale Boyter will serve as executive producer.

Universal is releasing the film February 23, 2018. This will mark Sakhno’s first venture in American film.
