Feel the Cut of Takashi Miike’s Blade of the Immortal with First Trailer
Terra Formars may have been trashed upon its release in Japan earlier this year, but Takashi Miike isn’t ready to throw his hat in the ring just yet. His latest is another manga adaptation in the form of Blade of the Immortal, and as its name suggests, it’s about an immortal swordsman who will not be able to lift his curse of everlasting life until 1000 evildoers feel the cut of his steel.
Warner Bros. Japan recently released the first trailer and poster for Blade of the Immortal, which also stars Takuya Kimura, Hana Sugisaki and Sōta Fukushi. It opens in Japan on April 29, 2017, and as Miike has cult status overseas, an international release shouldn’t be too far off.
Miike’s previous samurai epic 13 Assassins was heavily re-edited for its western release to downplay the supernatural elements. If they do the same here then I urge to to import the Japanese DVD release if you want to see the film.
