Grant Morrison’s Savage Sword of Jesus Christ Coming to Heavy Metal
He may have been famous for saying, “{A}ll they that take the sword shall perish with the sword,” but our Lord and Savior is clearly not above taking up arms and dishing up some justice when the need arises. Forget curing the sick and healing the blind; this Messiah’s only concern is to act as the Frank Castle of the New Testament.
Well, his dad has an obsession with causing death and genocide on a massive scale, including causing a flood that killed nearly the entire world’s population, so I guess the need to engage in homicidal behavior on a massive scale must run in the family.
Famed comic writer Grant Morrison, who also recently became the editor-in-chief of Heavy Metal, will be bringing us the Savage Sword of Jesus Christ in said magazine next month. Clearly intended to be a parody of sorts of The Savage Sword of Conan, it sees our resurrected hero apparently forgetting all about the Sixth Commandment and massacring those in need of some divine punishment.
