Ivan Reitman Promises More Ghostbusters Movies on the Way

Apparently Sony ain’t afraid of making more Ghostbusters movies despite box office returns or fan outrage. At least according to franchise creator Ivan Reitman. ComicBook.com caught up with Reitman to get the skinny on the sequel and any other supernatural occurrences.

There’s going to be many other Ghostbusters movies; they’re just in development right now,” Reitman told the Mr. Wavvy podcast.

But what about the film’s box office? According to a Sony rep, “This loss calculation is way off. With multiple revenue streams, including consumer products, gaming, location-based entertainment, continued international rollout, and huge third-party promotional partnerships that mitigated costs, the bottom line, even before co-financing, is not remotely close to that number.

As for whether or not Paul Feig would return to the series after directing the first one – “Nobody’s called me,” Feig said. “But I love those characters, and I know they are now heroes and mean a lot to a lot of people, so in a perfect world it would be great if we could see them bust more ghosts, kick more ass, and be awesome again.”
