Event Report: The Reapers Take over The Roosevelt Hotel
The second annual Reaper Awards descended onto the historic Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood on Tuesday, October 12th, in high fashion as the hotel was packed to celebrate the best horror titles released over the last year on DVD and Blu-Ray.
The Reaper Awards were hosted by Dread Central’s own fearless leader, Steve “Uncle Creepy” Barton, and the awards themselves (The Grimmys) are given out as part of a collaborative effort between Dread and Home Media Magazine to put the spotlight on genre titles which mainstream award shows generally overlook.
On hand for the Reaper Awards was a proverbial “Who’s Who” in the horror genre, including director Darren Lynn Bousman (Mother’s Day), actor Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects), iconic director Tom Holland (the original Fright Night), director Adam Green (Hatchet II), actress Rileah Vanderbilt (Hatchet II), director Neil Marshall (Centurion), actress Axelle Carolyn (Centurion), director Declan O’Brien (Wrong Turn 3), director Ben Rock (Alien Raiders), director Alicia Conway (Rite), and director Joe Lynch (Knights of Badassdom).
If all of those people weren’t awesome enough to chat with, Dread Central also caught up with actress Sarah Butler (I Spit on Your Grave 2010), actor Noah Segan (Someone’s Knocking at the Door), actress Gabby West (Saw 3D), director Oren Peli (Paranormal Activity), director Robert Hall (Laid to Rest), actor Ezra Buzzington (Someone’s Knocking at the Door), actress Brooke Lewis (iMurders), director Victor Garcia (Mirrors 2), actor Timothy Muskatell, and the Never Sleep Again team of Daniel Farrands, Andrew Kasch and Tommy Hutson.
Because choosing between our favorite red carpet interviews from the evening is like choosing between our favorite installments from the Nightmare on Elm Street series (I can never choose just one!), we had to break up our red carpet coverage into two videos!
