Taken Director Pierre Morel Leading the Pack for Universal’s Ouija Board
It’s been a few months since last there was anything to talk about regarding Platinum Dunes’ next film with Universal Pictures, entitled Ouija, but the planchette is now moving and pointing toward a director.
The LA Times reports Taken director Pierre Morel is a lead candidate to land the director’s job on the film, according to sources close to the project who don’t want to be identified.
In addition to that the Times also states that the movie may not be headed in the direction we all anticipated.
“While the Ouija movie could be a traditional horror picture (think pretty young things haunted by strange occurrences on a creepy sleepover), it’s actually being developed as an action-adventure in the vein of “National Treasure.” Michael Bay’s production company, Platinum Dunes, and several “Lost” writers are behind it. The Morel discussions underscore the adventure scope of the film; the director’s 2009 phenomenon had plenty of high-speed chases and action.”
Umm … really? Color us disturbed. So much for getting a good old fashioned evil spirit flick.
