It was just a little over a month ago when we first told you about an upcoming horror movie entitled The Domicile from writer-director Jared Cohn about an angry spirit getting revenge on her cheating husband from beyond the grave.

At the time, I refrained from commenting that the promotional artwork for the film looked like it was trying to set new standards for generic horror poster art because I figured it had to be temporary. New artwork for the forthcoming fright flick starring Richard Harris, Katherine Flannery, and Sara Malakul Lane has emerged; and it’s definitely more eye-catching.

Keep an eye out for The Domicile in 2017.

Synopsis:
Russell Brody, a one-time successful playwright, works diligently on a follow-up play that could land him back in the spotlight he so eagerly craves. With a baby on the way, however, and a strained marriage, stress and frustration take center stage. When his wife accidentally stumbles down the stairs and dies from her injuries, Brody’s mental state goes from bad to one of utter despair.

In a bid to help his friend regain his sanity, Brody’s co-writer David Stanley suggests he revisits Lucy, his former mistress. The ghost of Brody’s dead wife awakens to the sordid details of his unfaithfulness, enraging her supernatural spirit to haunt him in every horrifying way imaginable. At first Brody thinks he’s hallucinating and hearing things in his head, the result of his state of mind and alcohol. But as things intensify, his grip on sanity quickly slips away, and he starts to go mad.

Appearing in every shadow, and provoking him relentlessly, the ghost cranks up her onslaught, making his life a living hell. Brody reaches his breaking point when the ghost possesses his former mistress, and he’s forced to confront the scorned entity — resulting in a climax of both psychological and physical terror.

One of Cohn’s previous efforts from earlier this year, and one of my personal favorites of 2016, is coming home to DVD for those of us that still prefer physical media over streaming. And what a physical movie The Horde is, as musclebound action hero Paul Logan plays an ex-soldier out to save his schoolteacher girlfriend and her class when they’re stalked in the woods during a field trip by an unlikely combination of inbred cannibal mutants and murderous meth dealers. Cohn flips the scripts with this one by having the hero brutally kill the every-loving hell out of everyone who gets between him and the woman he loves.

Costas Mandylor, Vernon Wells, Bill Moselely, and Don “The Dragon” Wilson are amongst those that either help or get slaughtered in ways that would even make Jason wince – and that’s by the good guy!

The Horde hits DVD on February 14th. Yep! Valentine’s Day! Nothing says “I Love You” quite like the gift of watching backwoods rednecks getting hacked to pieces by a pissed off Special Forces soldier.

A great alternate title for this one would have been The Hills Have Abs.
