The Exorcist Producer Jeremy Slater Talks Season 2 Plans

Surprisingly enough, “The Exorcist” TV series based upon the movie of the same name was better than it had any right to be. In fact, it was incredibly good so you know what that means, right? We probably won’t be getting a second season because we can’t have nice things.

Fox has yet to comment either way (ratings for Friday night’s season finale were on par with the prior week among adults 18-49 and steady with the season average), but Bloody Disgusting caught up with producer Jeremy Slater to talk a bit about the direction a second season would take…

A potential Season Two would find Marcus, Tomas, and Bennett tasked with helping a new family or a new case of possession,” Slater tells the site. “That doesn’t mean we’ll never see any of the Rances again, but I think the fans would feel disappointed and cheated if we simply brought Captain Howdy back for round three. The Rances have escaped this legacy of terror–for the time being, anyway–and it seems cruel to immediately drag them back for ten more episodes of suffering. Our challenge now is to create a new family that you care about just as much as the Rances and to find ways to make their story feel just as compelling and unique as what came before.

There’s a bit more from Slater, too, about the conspiracy within the Church so we recommend you hit up the above link!
