J-Horror Heavyweights Grow Vines for NBC Supernatural Soap?
Like many of you, we, too, are tired of the J-Horror thing. Even Andrew Kasch is (though we still catch him wearing the long black-haired wig and staring into the mirror from time to time). But damn it, the really good movies out of the Far East were so kickass that we must pay attention! Especially when it concerns a project made specifically for us here in the States.
According to Deadline Hollywood NBC has added the supernatural soap “Vines” to its roster of drama projects in development for next season with The Ring director Hideo Nakata possibly executive producing and directing. The project from writer Mark Kruger (“The 4400”) and film producers Michael Aguilar (The Departed) and Taka Ichise (The Ring and The Grudge movies) was originally intended to be a feature film but has instead gone the way of television.
“Vines” centers on a troubled family desperate for a fresh start that takes over a Napa Valley winery whose ancient vines possess dangerous mystical powers.
Look for more on this one soon.
