Jeremy Renner in Talks to Play Snake Plissken in Escape from New York Redux
Ever since director Breck Eisner’s remake of Escape from New York was mentioned, the one question instantly on everyone’s mind was who in the world could possibly fill Kurt Russell’s shoes as the new Snake Plissken?
Several huge names were tossed about, but now it looks as if one actor is really close to signing on board for the role.
According to Bloody Disgusting Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) is in final talks to land the lead role. Honestly? Renner has some serious chops. This might actually be able to work. We’ll let you know more as it comes.
John Carpenter’s classic 1981 post-apocalyptic thriller followed antihero Snake Plissken (played by Kurt Russell) as he tries to save the President in gang-ruled Manhattan. New Line Cinema’s new spin follows along the lines of the original in which Plissken — an iconic soldier-turned-criminal — is given 24 hours to find the President following the crash of Air Force One.
