With the Sundance Film Festival brewing, Vertical Entertainment has preemptively struck to acquire a new psychological thriller ahead of its premiere at Utah’s big dance. Screen Daily reports that the distributor has picked up North American theatrical rights to Cate Shortland’s Berlin Syndrome ahead of its screening in Park City on January 20.

Synopsis: A passionate holiday romance leads to an obsessive relationship when an Australian photojournalist wakes one morning in a Berlin apartment and is unable to leave.
