Ouija Board Spells out “McG” as Director
And the proposed Ouija film finally has its director. And you know what? It kind of makes sense. Follow along with me for a moment if you will.
According to Deadline New York McG is the choice to direct Ouija, the Universal Pictures supernatural action adventure that will follow Battleship as the next Hasbro branded property to move into production.
Now just think about it … You have McG, right? The guy who made a Terminator movie in which the Terminators didn’t kill anyone. Now you have Universal, who is looking to make a movie whose centerpiece revolves around a talking board that supposedly lets you contact the dead, thereby letting all manner of angry spirits and possible demonic beings into your lives to wreak havoc. Screenwriters Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz have already stated that the tone of the movie will be light on horror and heavy on adventure. See where I’m going? Putting the man who made Terminators into robot wimps at the helm of an adventure movie that should be scary but won’t be just makes sense, damnit!
Ouija is slated to be in theatres on November 9, 2012. Just in time for the end of the world.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to assault the fence around my house with a baseball bat until my hands bleed. Thanks.
