Capcom Gives Its Support to Resident Evil-Style Game Daymare: 1998
If Resident Evil 7 left you hungry for more Japanese-style survival horror, then you might want to back the Kickstarter campaign for Daymare: 1998, which you may have noticed kind of resembles the Resident Evil series. And with good reason.
We reported last year that Resident Evil creature designer Satoshi Nakai was involved with Daymare: 1998, but that’s not all. We learn from the Kickstarter campaign that a ton of other developers who worked on the Resident Evil series and other classic Capcom titles such as Dino Crisis, Onimusha, Street Fighter II, Devil May Cry and Ōkami are also either already working on the game or may soon be joining the team.
With the full blessing and support of Capcom, it looks like Daymare: 1998 has the potential to be the best Resident Evil game that’s not a Resident Evil game.
From the Press Release:
“Daymare: 1998” is meant to bring back the atmosphere, the feeling and the mood of the 80s’ and 90s’ most beloved video games and movies. In those years, we saw the boom of the horror genre.
From an artistic point of view, “Daymare: 1998” is inspired by those movie and game productions. What emerges from this mix is a constant and oppressive sense of danger, helplessness, and fear conveyed by an extremely suggestive and creepy setting: a typical dirty and chaotic American little town as depicted in many productions of the 90s.
