Several Names Under Consideration for Wrath of the Titans
Everyone, including star Sam Worthington, is well aware of what a major missed opportunity the recent Clash of the Titans turned out to be, and it looks like the powers-that-be are doing everything they can to make sure its sequel, Wrath of the Titans, doesn’t follow suit, including lining up some major star power for it. Read on for who is currently in talks for the project.
According to The Wrap Carlos star Edgar Ramirez (pictured right) is officially in negotiations to play Ares while The Sorceror’s Apprentice villain Toby Kebbell is on the verge of accepting an offer to play Agenor. Additionally, Captain America star Hayley Atwell is on the shortlist of actresses who are actually testing for the role of Andromeda in Jonathan Liebesman’s sequel.
Atwell is joined by Georgina Haig (Wasted on the Young), Janet Montgomery (Black Swan), Dominique McElligott (Moon) and Clemence Poesy, who is best known for playing Fleur Delacour in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, in her quest to portray the princess who becomes Perseus’ wife (although there’s no certainty of how that’s going to play out given that Io (Gemma Arterton) was his love interest in Clash).
The Wrap also revealed that Bill Nighy is being courted to play Hephaestus, although his participation is far from official at this point. Meanwhile, along with Worthington and Arterton, Ralph Fiennes and Liam Neeson are confirmed to be returning for the sequel, which has a tentative release date of spring, 2012.
