This New Alien: Covenant Poster Hearkens Back to The Beginning
A new poster for Ridley Scott’s upcoming sci-fi/horror film Alien: Covenant has been released and can be seen below. This poster mirrors the first one that was released, which showed the front of a Xenomorph head and bore the tagline “Run”. Here we have the facehugger egg held in the same kind of dark lighting and the tagline reads “Hide”. While it’s obvious that the two were designed in conjunction with one another, this poster also pays homage to the original 1979 one-sheet in that both focus entirely on the egg.
Admittedly, the new egg looks more textured and almost sinister than the original one-sheet’s offering. Then again, Prometheus and now Alien: Covenant have much, MUCH larger budgets that what Scott originally had to work with, plus the mythos is being expanded upon and grown with these prequel titles. Perhaps what we’re seeing is the “rough cut” before the perfected evolution?
Recently, a prologue video of the crew enjoying what is called their “Last Supper” was released. You can watch it here.
Synopsis:
The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.
