Netflix Releases Trailer for the Sinister and Mysterious Dark
After the success of “Stranger Things”, it’s no surprise that Netflix has another missing child series on the way, except this one hails from Germany. Dubbed “Dark”, the trailer introduces the concept of a town where children go missing, “…as if the Earth swallowed [them] up.” However, things get really interesting towards the end of the trailer when it posits that the ultimate question isn’t WHO kidnapped these children but rather WHEN, introducing what may very well be a time travel element.
Putting the supernatural and sci-fi elements to the side for a moment, what struck me about this trailer is that it OOZES atmosphere. There are dank forests, gorgeous landscape shots, and there is a pervasive air of mystery hovering over every frame. It’s almost like the aforementioned “Stranger Things” met “Twin Peaks” with a hefty dose of Alan Wake tossed in there for good measure. All I know is that I already added it to my Netflix list and you can too right here.
“Dark” stars Louis Hofmann, Oliver Masucci, Jördis Triebel, Maja Schöne, Sebastian Rudolph, and Anatole Taubman.
Synopsis:
A missing child sets four families on a frantic hunt for answers. Their search for a culprit unearths a small town’s sins and secrets.
