The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films has unveiled the 43rd Annual Saturn Awards list of nominees, and it’s a testament to the amount of genre fare we were graced with in 2016. Films like Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, The BFG, Captain America: Civil War, and more lead the pack in the motion picture category while AMC’s “The Walking Dead” takes the lead in TV with 7 nominations.

For Best Horror Film, the nominees are The Autopsy of Jane Doe, The Conjuring 2, Demon, Don’t Breathe, Ouija: Origin of Evil, Train to Busan, and The Witch. Interestingly enough, they put the nomination for 10 Cloverfield Lane in the Best Thriller Film Release category. I can see why they did this, but I feel like the discussion of “Is it or is it not horror?” surrounding Don’t Breathe would’ve had that make more sense as pretty much everyone agreed that 10 Cloverfield Lane fell into the horror genre.

Sticking with 10 Cloverfield Lane, Mary Elizabeth Winstead got a nomination for Best Actress while John Goodman got one for Best Supporting Actor. While Winstead undoubtedly did a great job, Goodman’s performance was something out of this world (no pun intended). If he doesn’t get the win, it’ll be a damn shame.

For Best Horror Television, the nominees are “American Horror Story: Roanoke”, “Ash vs. Evil Dead”, “The Exorcist”, “Fear the Walking Dead”, “Teen Wolf”, “The Vampire Diaries”, and “The Walking Dead”.

The actual award ceremony will take place June 28th in Burbank, California. You can see the full list of nominees right here.
