Doug Jones Was the McDonald’s Mac Tonight Guy!
Doug Jones is a man who doesn’t need an introduction when it comes to horror fans. After all, he was Abe Sapien in Hellboy, the Faun in Pan’s Labyrinth, and appeared in The Bye Bye Man, Crimson Peak, Absentia, Quarantine, and much more. He’s one of those guys that is often wearing a suit or some vast amount of makeup but the performances he gives makes those Hollywood creations seem all the more believable and tangible, as though fantasy CAN become reality.
It turns out that Jones’ career had a rather interesting and golden start. The actor took to his Facebook page to do a #TBT (Throwback Thursday) where he revealed that he was the man behind the Mac Tonight moon mask in the infamous series of commercials from the fast food giant McDonald’s!

“Yes, for those of you old enough to remember, it was right around this time in 1987 that my McDonald’s “Mac Tonight” commercials started airing. 3 years and 27 spots bought our first house, and marked me as the tall, skinny fellow who moves well and wears a lot of rubber on his head. Thank you McDonalds for starting my silly career of 30 years and counting!”
