Ridley Scott Reveals Next Alien Subtitle? Doubles Down on Several More Entries!

About two weeks ago we posted that Ridley Scott already had a script written for his third film in the Prometheus trilogy, which will be continued in Alien: Covenant. His reasoning for having it already lined up was, “You’ve got to assume to a certain extent success and from that you’d better be ready. You don’t want a two-year gap.

In a new interview with Fandango, Scott not only doubles down on there being a third film, but he may have actually let the subtitle slip out unintentionally. When asked where the third film will take place in the chronological order of the series, Scott replied, “It will go Prometheus, Awakening, Covenant… fairly integral where this colonization ship is on the way….

So, it seems like Alien: Awakening is the third film that he’s going to make. However, does his order imply that it happens before Covenant? Or was that simply a slip of order? At this point, we’ll simply have to wait to see what happens!

Additionally, Scott doubled down on the rumor that he wants to keep making Alien films, stating, “If this is successful, and then the next one, and then there will definitely be three more.

So it looks like the sci-fi/horror genre is going to get several more additions in the coming years, which I’m 100% fine with! The Xenomorph is an exciting villain for a wide variety of reasons, and it seems like the Weyland-Yutani universe holds a ton of mysteries. So long as the films are smart, well done, and have purpose, Scott has my support.

Alien: Covenant is being unleashed on May 19th.

Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, and Benjamin Rigby star. Ridley Scott directed the film, which was written by John Logan and Dante Harper based on a story by Jack Paglen and Michael Green.

Synopsis:
Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with ALIEN: COVENANT, a new chapter in his groundbreaking ALIEN franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.
