After Dark Original Re-Kill Being Given a Separate Theatrical Release

After Dark Films announced today that Re-Kill, originally slated to be released this Friday along with five other films as part of the After Dark Originals “A New Brand of Fear” series, is instead being pulled from the fest and will be held for a theatrical release later this year.

Re-Kill was written by Mike Hurst (Hardwired, Ninja) and directed by Val Milev. Roger Cross (The Day the Earth Stood Still), Jesse Garcia (Quinceanera), and Daniella Alonso (Wrong Turn 2, The Hills Have Eyes II) star. Its producers say Re-Kill has shown so much promise that it is being pulled from the festival and will most likely enjoy a wider theatrical release, on its own, later this year.

CEO Courtney Solomon said, “The original reason we made these films was to give filmmakers a chance to shine while participating in the “Originals” film festival. By making a great film, they open the door giving that film a chance to be released on a wider basis. It’s only a good thing for everyone if this happens.”

Re-Kill, from producer Courtney Solomon and executive producers Stephanie Caleb, Allan Zeman, and Moshe Diamont, was shot in Bulgaria and is currently in post-production. The remaining After Dark Originals Films — Prowl, Seconds Apart, Fertile Ground, The Task, and Husk — will all be released theatrically on Friday, January 28th.

Re-Kill Synopsis
It’s been five years since the Outbreak, and the zombie menace is supposed to be waning. But the brave men and women of R-Division, who find and destroy the undead, are seeing signs of a second Outbreak, which humanity may not survive. Footage about the men and women of R-Division and their grim, dangerous, but essential job of exterminating re-animated humans was shot the week previous by an embedded journalist during a long, deadly day. Only the film survived.
