For many, 2015’s sci-fi adventure/horror film Jurassic World was exactly the kind of film that satisfied nostalgic expectations. If you wanted people running from seemingly impossible to kill dinosaurs, all set on a beautiful yet harsh island, then you got it all and more! Sure, there were TONS of issues when it came to the story but it was a rollicking good time and the final fight sequence was pretty damn thrilling, especially when seen in a theater with a full audience.

Considering that the sequel made nearly $1.7 billion globally, expectations are very high for the sequel, which is being directed by J.A. Bayona (When a Monster Calls, The Orphanage). What story will it take and how will the dinosaurs stand out? Will there be new creations, a lá the Indominus Rex? It’s all up in the air, at the moment, so we’re simply going to have to wait and see.

However, one thing is for certain and that’s that the team is committed to going the route of the original Jurassic Park and use animatronics, as evidenced by Bayona’s below tweet. Apparently, the dinosaur that is hinted at in the photograph requires 11 puppeteers to function, making this writer believe it’s GOT to be a big son of a gun! You can see it for yourself below.

Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Toby Jones, Justice Smith, Ted Levine, Rafe Spall, James Cromwell, Geraldine Chaplin, and Daniella Pineda. J.A. Bayona is on board to direct with Frank Marshall producing along with Pat Crowley and Belén Atienza.

Colin Trevorrow, who helmed Jurassic World, penned the script with his writing partner, Derek Connolly. Trevorrow will also executive produce with Steven Spielberg. VP of production Sara Scott is overseeing production on behalf of Universal.

Universal has set June 22, 2018, as the release date.
