With cult movies on Blu-ray being all the rage of late, the Warner Archives is dipping into the wayback machine for its upcoming release of the most rage-filled monster tree movie of all time: From Hell It Came.

Okay, technically, this 1957 ditty is about a killer tree stump brought back to life by a spirit out for vengeance. Either way, it truly is a lumbering monster.

Synopsis:
Beware Tabonga! On a remote South Seas island, no one is safe from this hideous – and unique – monster. Tabonga is part-man, part-tree, all doom. Formerly an island prince, he was unjustly put to death by a witch doctor. Now he’s returned to life with roots, branches, and a vengeance… Against natives. Against visiting American scientists who investigate the tree’s radioactive green sap. Against anyone unwise enough to expect a tree to stay put.

A macabre medley of creature feature, Polynesian kitsch, and Atomic Age cautionary tale, From Hell It Came is the killer-tree movie you woodn’t want to miss!

There’s not a whole lot of bark to go with this tree monster’s bite, as special features consist only of the new HD 1080p transfer in 1.78:1 aspect ratio with 2.0 mono audio and subtitles for the hearing impaired.

When exactly hell will be coming to Blu-ray remains to be seen. Expect Tabonga to wreak hi-def havoc sometime later this year.
