Yesterday and today, the Shibuya District in Tokyo, Japan is hosting a concert event that plays the music from both Shin Godzilla and Neon Genesis Evangelion. Hideaki Anno, who directed Shin Godzilla and helped create Neon Genesis Evangelion, acts as the executive producer of the event with Shirō Sagisu, who composed music for the film and series, respectively, acting as the compositor, arranger, and general director of the event, per Crunchy Roll.

An attendee by the name of Jessica McCallum explains that Anno showed up at one of the events where he announced not only another Evangelion film but also another entry in the Godzilla series. Whether Anno is talking about another Shin Godzilla or the upcoming Netflix anime has yet to be seen. Still, with the wild success of Shin Godzilla, including the multiple awards it has earned in Japan, it makes sense that a sequel would be in the works.

What are your thoughts? Do you think it’s too soon for a Shin Godzilla sequel to be announced or is this a case of a studio capitalizing on the success of a title?
