We’ve been hearing pretty much from the beginning of “The Vampire Diaries” that Stefan used to have a much darker side, and it seems that in Episode 15, “The Dinner Party”, both the viewers and Elena are going to learn more. But before we get to the synopsis, how about a peek at last night’s ratings for the show’s midseason return?

The Vampire DiariesAccording to The CW, facing “American Idol” on Fox for the first time, the network’s return to originals resulted in its most watched Thursday since 11/4/10 (3.0M), and its best adults 18-34 (1.4/4) and women 18-34 (1.8/5) ratings since 11/11/10. It was also the network’s best Thursday adults 18-49 rating since 10/28/10 (1.3/4).

“The Vampire Diaries” had its best performance in adults 18-34 (1.8/5) and women 18-34 (2.3/7) since 11/11/10 last night. The show ranked #2 for the hour in women 18-34 (2.3/7). Compared to its last original episode on 12/9/10, “TVD” was up 4% in total viewers (3.3M), up 23% in adults 18-49 (1.6/4) and up 13% in adults 18-34 (1.8/5).

Guess maybe they didn’t need to worry about pushing back “Supernatural” a week so they could re-air “The Vampire Diaries” and “Nikita” tonight after all!

In any event, here’s what we can expect from “The Dinner Party” next month:
