SXSW 2011: First Official Image from Joseph Kahn’s Slasher Flick Detention

Even though it’s only been about eight months since production started, music video director Joseph Kahn will have his latest feature film, Detention, ready to cause a stir at the 2011 SXSW festival in Austin, Texas (March 11th-19th).

The film will be joining the previously announced The Innkeepers and The Divide.

Detention stars Dane Cook, Josh Hutcherson, Shanley Caswell, Spencer Locke, Parker Bagley, Alison Woods, Walter Perez, and Evan Williams. Dig on the image and the plot crunch below. Look for more soon.

Synopsis:
The film follows a 17-year-old who is given detention on the night of her prom. Over the course of the night her friends are murdered by a fictional horror movie icon. It’s said to be in the vein of Scream with elements of Back to the Future (time travel is involved) and classic John Hughes teen films from the 80’s.
